Otley is celebrating after an Olympic silver medal yesterday.
The town's Lizzie Armitstead came in second behind the Netherlands' Marianna Vos in the Women's Road Cycle Race to claim Team GB's first medal at London 2012.
The 23-year-old dedicated the medal to everyone who supported her in the build-up to the Games.
Speaking to Sky Sports News, she said: "It was beyond anything I've ever achieved before. It's something I've worked so hard for in the last four years.
"I'm so proud of me and the girls and everyone who’s put something in to this medal. So many people deserve a bit of it."
Her parents, John and Carol Armitstead, said her success in the race were thanks to the cheering crowds.
Carol said: "We are absolutely delighted. She said it's something she's worked for for a long time.
"She knew she could do it."
Her father John said: "I think she could hear everyone willing her on and I'm sure that pushed her."
