| Nick Hancock was born on 3rd June 1980. His mother has sadly never got her figure back. The number one that day was Theme from Mash: Suicide is Painless. Lovely. Due to a problem with his umbilical cord Baby Nick nearly didn't make it. But even worse than that he has had to live all his life with one of those weird sticky outty belly buttons! Nick grew up in historic Lincolnshire and attended Boston Grammar School where he was made ‘Head Boy’ in 1997. Creep. In Nick’s own words he effectively won a ‘popularity contest’ at School. |
| However this next bit may make Nick sound like a lonely and deeply unhappy child. In his spare time Nick used to spend many hours alone in his bedroom talking to himself on ‘Bedroom FM’. Nick remembers things differently though ‘that radio station was highly popular...all my babysitters used to listen and we pioneered Outside Broadcasts with a live show from the kitchen where my mum was making Shepherd’s pie’. Incredibly Nick left Bedroom FM for a radio station with even less listeners – Grantham Hospital Radio. Nick played rock music to a very captive often deeply unhappy audience. Nick went on to work at some slightly more professional stations – Lincs FM in his home town of Lincoln, Trax FM in Doncaster, Rutland Radio in guess what Rutland, Minster FM in York and Home FM in Huddersfield – a station that has since gone bust. In December 2009 Nick joined Stray FM to present the Breakfast show and has been getting by on very limited talent and effort ever since. Here’s 5 things you might want to know about Nick: Nick has to get up at 3.50am every weekday morning. Nick is never in a bad mood. Nick is married to Sarah and they are about to become parents. Nick is known in Stray FM circles as ‘Mr. Popular’ Nick has a Border Terrier called Seb Two of the above may not stand up in a court of Law. Join Nick Hancock at Breakfast every weekday from 6am for great music, the very latest Travel news and the best darn banter on the radio |

'Deceptively spacious' was how the estate agent described it.
