Find out more about the only person at Stray FM who can actually sing!

Laura was born in Melbourne, Australia in 1986. She lived in Australia until the age of 7 when she moved to Harrogate in 1994. Mummy Finnerty's family originate from Harrogate - Laura‘s Great, Great Grandfather built Harlow Hill Water Tower and the Pump Rooms!

Laura went to Rossett School and then to Harrogate College where she studied Performing Arts. After discovering her talent for singing she went on to study at Leeds College of Music and began working as a vocalist.

Performing at weddings, bars and holiday camps Laura travelled the country in a van with a band – very glam! It was her singing which got her a job at Stray FM. After coming into the station to advertise a charity event in 2008 she asked if she could make tea and coffee as work experience ….the rest, as they say, is history! She now Co-Presents the Breakfast show and is nicknamed the Lady of Love as presenter of The Wind Down Zone each evening!

In her spare time Laura likes to go on long walks, drink champagne and people-watch from coffee shops.

A few questions to Laura...

If you weren't on't the radio what would you be doing instead?
I love music so I would probably be pushing myself as a performer or be organizing music events and artists!

Here's a chance to come clean. Is there anything you did as a kid that you wish to own up now?
I was an angel child! Honestly! I don't think I have any confessions as my Mum's all seeing and all knowing! She was on to my sister and before we had time to lie.

If someone gave you a tenner right now what would you do with it?
Put it on the floor and do a money dance around it. Then put it in my purse.

Who's the most famous person you've met
Vivianne Westwood! Ok, so I didn't ‘meet' her. I was walking around Hampton Court when I bumped into her. For the first time I was star struck!

Top bunk or bottom bunk?
At a youth hostel I fell off the top bunk whilst asleep and didn't even wake up! Ever since it's been safety first and bottom bunk for me...

What's your first memory and how old were you?
I was 6 months old! My mum was calling my name and I saw a flash...All very blurred but I have the photo to link to the memory!

So you end on up on Come Dine With Me...what dish would you cook to bag yourself the £1000?
I'd win everyone over with dessert. Hot chocolate puddle pudding with Yorkshire ice cream.

Eeek, your house is burning down, what's the thing you'd grab as you run out of the door?
Any family members, including my cat Mr. Tinky!

You've just fallen into a vat of toxic waste, which superpower would like bestowed upon you?
The power of flying.

At the end of a long day doing this radio malarkey, what do you do to relax?
Go watch live music, sing, dance and drink green tea with friends.

Which would win in a fight, a polar bear or hippo? (The teacher would like to see your working!)
Polar bear hands down. They're strong on land and in water. A polar bear could ‘rock bottom' a hippo no problem.

If you had to for the rest of your life, which would you give up, cheese or chocolate?
Chocolate would have to go. Can you imagine pizza with no cheese? What would macaroni go with?!

Go on then, 6 billion people could read this so this is your stage, tell us a joke (no pressure!)...
What's yellow and smells of bananas?
Monkey sick.
(I'm sorry)
