How to lose stubborn belly fat

  • Alcohol is one of the main offenders when it comes to storing belly fat and is what many refer to as ‘empty calories’ as it comes with no nutritional value.

  • Sugar is another belly enemy as it confuses your body often automatically causing your body to store fat, something which other foods don’t do.

  • Get plenty of protein as it triggers the release of a hormone known as P.Y.Y which helps to send a message to the brain that you’re full – hopefully reducing overeating.

  • Apple cider vinegar can also help as it lowers your blood sugar levels and helps you lose weight and reduce belly fat.

  • It’s also important to get plenty of sleep and avoid stress. In one 16-year study, it was shown that women who slept for less than five hours a night were significantly more likely to gain weight around their bellies than those who slept seven hours or more. Also, when you’re tired your body produces more ghrenlin, a hormone which makes you feel hungry. Stress meanwhile causes your body to gain fat because it triggers the release of the hormone cortisol, which in turn increases your appetite.

  • Losing body fat as part of a calorie-controlled diet combined with exercise can be tough though, and one place that really understands that is Body Sculpture in Harrogate. Offering a range of different treatments which, using ultrasound technology, can help reduce stubborn body fat in areas such as the tummy, the arms and the thighs, and right now we have 20% off treatments so feel free to find out more with Kathryn at Body Sculpture Harrogate.
