We are now looking to appoint a Director of Housing and Arts & Craft Centre

Job Summary:

To oversee the strategic and operational management of Henshaws residential care and supported living services and the Arts and Crafts Centre. Ensuring services are running in accordance with the highest levels of care and compliance. Responsible for the delivery of an operating plan. To undertake a lead role on the commissioning of new services and in implementing the Housing and Support and Arts and Crafts Centre strategic plans as part of the senior management team. Have overall budgetary responsibility for the commercial viability of Residential services, Harrogate Home Support and Arts & Crafts Centre.

Key responsibilities will include:

Service Development

Lead on all commercial services including contracts management, marketing, occupancy, voids management and commissioning of new services across the directorate.

To be responsible for the day-to-day operational management and development of services within Henshaws Residential services, Harrogate Home Support and Arts & Crafts.

Produce business cases for the development of Residential services, Harrogate Home Support and Arts & Crafts Centre.

Responsible for all fee and contract negotiation between the services. Leading on negotiations, the management of the performance of contracts, reviewing KPIs, influencing and achieving positive outcomes.

Supervision and Line Management

To line manage the Deputy Director of Housing and Support and respective Heads of services.

To ensure that, in each of the teams, staff are being appropriately managed and supported.

To ensure that staff delivering service are being managed to ensure good practice, high quality and compliance in:

  • Reporting and Recording
  • Evaluation and monitoring of individual impact for service users
  • Promotion of empowerment, social inclusion and self-determination
  • Communication within and outside teams
  • Policy implementation and adhering with polices
  • Accepting and utilising appropriate training.

Management of Service Quality

To maintain the ethos and philosophy of the service and ensure that everyone is treated with respect and promotes equality.

To manage and co-ordinate the regulatory process that ensure compliance with all statutory UK wide regulations including the Care Quality Commission.

To undertake an annual internal Quality Development Review (internal audit) of all services across the group with regular re-audits scheduled as appropriate.

Deputising and Liaison

To work with other Senior Managers to assist with the development of delivery of all services across the Charity, offering skills and experience to overall development.

To liaise with other professionals and organisations as required and attend meetings to represent Henshaws.

To attend internal meetings as requested to deliver reports and discuss operational issues and developments as necessary.

The ideal candidate will possess:

Experience of Strategic management within a residential care setting

A sound knowledge and understanding of regulatory and legislative requirements of the Care and Support Function

An understanding of the strategic and developmental needs of the service and how this can be applied operationally

Educated to degree level ideally in a care or commercial, business related qualification

A Qualification in Health and Social Care Management at Level 5

Managers Safeguarding Level 5 (minimum)
