We are now looking to add to our current team of Student Support Assistants to work as part of a team in ‘The Starting Point’ providing specialist care and learning support for students with Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and behavioural, emotional and social difficulties (BESD).

Salary: £9.27 per hour
Hours: Full and Part-time
Term time only and 52-week contracts
Annual Leave: 25 days plus 10 Statutory holidays (pro-rata for part-time/term time roles)

Job Summary:

This role will work as part of a team in ‘The Starting Point’ providing specialist care and learning support for students with Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and behavioural, emotional and social difficulties (BESD). The key focus of the role will be to promote independence and prepare the students with skills for life and living.

Key responsibilities will include:

Ensure that the learning needs of the students are supported, as directed by education staff, working with the programme leader and therapists to support the students within their learning.

Ensure that the care support needs of each student are met, as directed by their individual care plan.

Support the students with their personal care needs where required; including but not limited to showering/bathing, dressing, continence, medication in line with their care plan.

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Recent experience of working with young adults in a caring or education environment
  • Able to understand or to develop an understanding of the needs of children/young adults with a disability
  • Hold (or be prepared to work towards) a relevant Level 2 or 3 qualification in Health and Social Care (or equivalent)
