Home Instead Senior Care Harrogate, Ripon and Thirsk is a provider of Award Winning Care at Home services to elderly people living in this beautiful part of North Yorkshire. Due to significant business growth we are looking for a HR Assistant who will also provide Recruitment Support to our Operations Manager. This role will require someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment and has a track record of meeting deadlines. The role is varied with responsibilities split between HR and Recruitment Support.


HR Responsibilities

  • Managing CAREGiver sickness, absence along with performance and professional development in line with company policy.
  • Ensuring the correct HR policies and procedures are followed at all times.
  • Ensuring all personal files are compliant throughout the various HR processes via GDPR and company policy.
  • Preparation of CAREGiver documents for new starters and system set up.
  • Proactively seeking ways to increase employee retention and using your own initiative to implement rewards schemes i.e The Doller Store, Length of Service Lunches.
  • Management of ‘departing’ employees in line with company policy.
  • Associated HR Admin – preparation of orientation day, application pack etc.
  • Management of employee relations – birthday card, sympathy cards and rewards for CAREGivers.


Recruitment Support

  • Proactively finding new ways to recruit CAREGivers via networking, social media, community groups etc.
  • Handling recruitment enquiries and recording this on the relevant system ensuring every enquiry is dealt with accordingly.
  • Arranging and conducting pre interview meetings to screen potential candidate before interview.  
  • Management of recruitment channels – Home Instead Website, Indeed Job Board, Homecare.co.uk, Indeed CV Library.
  • Collaborating with our Marketing partner to generate and monitor social media marketing campaigns.
  • Using social media to publish consistent Home Instead content in order to raise brand awareness.
  • Management of our social media pages, recruitment events and taster days.
  • Achieve recruitment targets.

Required Qualities


  • CIPD or equivalent would be useful but not essential. HR experience is preferable.
  • A positive, approachable and friendly manner is necessary.  
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential.
  • Listening skills and a pleasant telephone manner are vital.
  • Must be computer literate with Microsoft word, excel and outlook.
  • An open mind with a keen ambition to learn about new systems that may be unfamiliar to you.
  • Must be a strong team player who is aware and aligned with our company ethos and core values.


Further Information


£10,192.00 per annum


20 hours per week + 8 Saturday mornings per year (8.30am until 12.00pm)


Monday – Thursday (working hours negotiable)


Access to reliable transport is essential


29 days holiday per year (pro rata)
