Hindemith Trauermusik
Brahms Sextet in B
A newly established regional ensemble of professional musicians, including players in leading national orchestras come together to perform firm favourites by J S Bach, and the string sextet by Brahms, which has entered popular culture in films and even the TV programme Inspector Morse. Hindemith’s Trauermusik (mourning music) was composed in memory of Kong George V, who had died the previous day. You may recognise a famous hymn tune in the last movement.
