Parents in parts of Wharfedale are stepping up their fight for more school places.

Projections suggest Ilkley Grammar, the only state secondary school for Ilkley, Burley and Addingham, could be over-subscribed by 29 places by 2018.

There are fears with new house building targets that demand will increase.

Campaigners say pupils face a 14-mile journey to under-subscribed schools in Keighley.

They're now urging other parents to attend a neighbourhood forum meeting at the Queen’s Hall in Burley-in-Wharfedale on 16 July.

The school was overlooked for Government funding earlier this year, which would have enabled it to build eight new classrooms and a lecture theatre.

Bradford Council has previously stated that there is insufficient demand for a new school in the area.
