The family and friends of a Harrogate man who drowned in London last year have raised hundreds of pounds in his memory.

Alex 'Mitch' Mitchell, 26, lost his life after going swimming in the Serpentine in Hyde Park last year.

To mark what would have been Alex's 28th birthday, a charity walk has taken place in aid of the Royal Life Saving Society.

More than 30 people joined the 'Birthday Amble for Mitch' along the River Thames and past famous landmarks where he used to enjoy going.

The group, all wearing matching T-shirts to remember Mitch, raised awareness of water safety and the risks of swimming in open water.

His mum Sue has shared her story with Stray FM and you can hear the full interview here:
