A Harrogate woman who lost her husband to bowel cancer is sharing her story to help raise awareness of the disease.

Kirsty Bull's husband Paul died in March last year at the age of 41, around 14 months after his diagnosis.

Symptoms of bowel cancer include blood in your stools, a change in bowel habits and tummy pain.

Kirsty has been sharing her story to mark Bowel Cancer Awareness Month:

As part of Bowel Cancer Awareness Month, health professionals in North Yorkshire want people who notice any changes to see their GP as soon as possible.

It's the third most common cancer in the UK.

Stray FM spoke to specialists based at the Sir Robert Ogden Macmillan Centre at Harrogate District Hospital:

Information leaflets about bowel cancer are available at Harrogate District Hospital or Boots in Harrogate.
