A Harrogate-based charity is continuing to offer support to one of the world's poorest countries.

Open Arms Malawi first launched in 1995 to support orphaned children following the AIDS crisis in the country.

Today, it looks after around 100 children, mainly under five years old, through residential care.

Its principal aim is to return, where possible, immunised and healthy toddlers to their extended families.

Fundraising Manager Serena Jones has been telling Stray FM more about the charity, its origins in Harrogate and some of the events it has planned over the coming year:

A photography exhibition will be held in support of Open Arms Malawi in the centre of town in July - find out more here.
