People looking for a new challenge are being encouraged to consider teaching in North Yorkshire.

As student numbers grow and the curriculum changes in schools, demand for teachers is increasing.

North Yorkshire County Council has organised an event for anyone who is considering it as a career option.

Teaching alliances will offer information about school-led training and universities will give advice on traditional routes, including the postgraduate certificate in education.

The Adult Learning and Skills Service will also have information for anyone who wants to be a teaching assistant.

Harrogate teacher Richard Upton has been telling Stray FM why the job is so rewarding:

The 'Train to Teach' event will be held at County Hall, Northallerton, from 1.30pm to 6.30pm on Thursday 13 October.
