Police officers from North and West Yorkshire are appearing on our TV screens once again.

They're featuring in the new series of 'Traffic Cops', which has switched from the BBC to Channel 5.

The first episode sees them tackling drug-related crime across the region, including a convicted drug dealer who leads officers from North Yorkshire's Roads Policing Group on a high-speed chase down the A1.

Officers in West Yorkshire are also on the tail of a suspicious car, which results in another pursuit.

Traffic Sergeant Paul Cording, of North Yorkshire Police, told Stray FM: "A lot of people don't realise, as traffic cops, what we do. They probably think we sit on the side of the road with a speed gun and give people tickets and that's all we do, whereas it's much more than that.

"I think shows like this really give the public a better understanding of what we do. For myself, using social media quite a lot, it highlights and humanises what we do, but for those people that aren't on social media, I think that gives them that opportunity as well."

You can see 'Traffic Cops' on Channel 5 at 8pm on Monday.
