Around 100 people have taken to the streets in Harrogate to protest against Donald Trump and his proposed state visit to the UK.

The march, and subsequent demonstration near to the Cenotaph, marked 13 days since the US President took office.

Members of the crowd held home-made banners, some calling for an end to 'the politics of hate', others warning the President that he won't be welcome in Britain.

Criticism was also reserved for the UK Prime Minister Theresa May.

Among the demonstrators was Harrogate and Knaresborough Green Party member Shan Oakes (pictured below), who told Stray FM: "It's outrageous what's happening, what Donald Trump is leading the world into and our Prime Minister seems to be going along with it.

"Hence all the and marches and demonstrations all over the world and we needed to do something here in Harrogate too."

In the first two weeks since taking office, Donald Trump has already reiterated his intention to push ahead with a controversial wall on the Mexican border, begun to roll back healthcare reforms and introduced a travel ban affecting seven mainly Muslim countries.
