WATCH: Nidderdale celebrates after securing bus service

Published at 6:03am 2nd October 2017.

Nidderdale's winter Sunday bus service is back on the road, thanks to businesses and community organisations.

The 24, which runs between Harrogate and Pateley Bridge, was due to stop on Sundays from the end of September until next May, because of falling passenger numbers.

However, after concerns were raised about the proposed cutbacks, a campaign to save the service was launched by Nidderdale Chamber of Trade, Nidderdale Plus and the Dales & Bowland Community Interest Company.

Harrogate Water then got on board to provide funding for the service which has been described as "a vital community transport link".

Financial support is also being provided by Nidderdale Chamber of Trade, Pateley Bridge Town Council, North Yorkshire County Council and individual donors.

The service, which has been secured for at least two years, will be operated by The Harrogate Bus Company, under contract to the Dales & Bowland Community Interest Company as part of the DalesBus network.
