A Skipton school's video, which pays homage to The Greatest Showman, has gone viral.

Skipton Academy say they made the video to challenge the reputation of the school and to inspire their students.

The school was judged as inadequate at its last Ofsted inspection in June last year.

Headteacher Richard McManus said:

"It does seem that there's been some negativity associated with the school. But certainly in the 12 months that myself and the new leadership team have been in place, we've found nothing but positives from the community and the young people that come here.

"That was part of it really, to challenge that stereotype that's associated with the academy. We wanted young people to not suffer from a poor local reputation, but for people to actually see what goes on.

"We're about transforming that local reputation and social media is a great way to do that."

The video has so far been viewed more than 18,000 times, and has been shared by more than 300 people.

Mr McManus addded:

"If you know the story of The Greatest Showman it's about people who face adversity and have relisience, and who go on to shine. So it's really trying to inspire our young people and allow them to showcase their talents."
