Sutton-in-Craven Fire: Video shows blaze at its height as incident is scaled down

North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue has scaled back its response to a large industrial fire in Sutton-in-Craven. 

  • Fire crews were called at 1.30 this afternoon to the incident on Bridge Road 
  • A large industrial two storey building was on fire
  • Video footage shot by resident Basil Simon captures the blaze as fire crews arrived
  • Eight crews from both North and West Yorkshire were initially on scene, now three engines and an aerial ladder platform remain 
  • North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue has isolated the electricity to some properties in the area 

At one point eight fire crews from North and West Yorkshire were called to the scene.

The incident, which began at 1.30pm this afternoon, has now been scaled back with three engines and an aerial ladder platform remaining. 

Video footage taken by an eyewitness shows the building engulfed in flames as firefighters arrive.

Bridge Street is still shut, however Main Street and Mill Street have reopened. 

North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue has had to turn off the electricity supply to some properties in the area. 

 

 North Yorkshire Police is asking people to avoid the area. 

Emergency services also urged residents in the area to keep their windows shut
