Fewer jobseekers in Harrogate District and Craven

The number of people claiming Jobseeker's Allowance has fallen in the Harrogate District and Craven. 

According to the latest unemployment figures from the Office for National Statistics, 351 people claimed in the Harrogate District last month, compared to 357 in June.

In July last year, 629 people were claiming Jobseeker's Allowance, meaning that the figure has fallen by 44% in 12 months.

In Craven, 223 people signed on in July, which is 15 fewer people than in June.

The number of claimants has fallen by 34% in 12 months, with 337 claimants in July last year.

There were also fewer people claiming in West Yorkshire last month. 

Nationally, unemployment increased by 25,000 in the three months to June, with 1.85 million people out of work.
