Businesses in Craven are being encouraged to apply for thousands of pounds to help train their staff.

Employers across the Leeds City Region, which includes Craven, have until March 2017 to access a total of £13.9 million.

Funding of between £5,000 and £50,000 is available to small and medium-sized businesses.

Councillor Simon Myers, Craven District Council's Lead Member for Enterprising Craven, said: "I would urge businesses to contact the Local Enterprise Partnership to see if they are eligible for this funding.

"It's essential that Craven companies have staff who are as skilled as possible so that they can compete effectively locally, nationally and internationally."

So far, more than £250,000 has been given to more than 100 local employers who have trained and upskilled around 700 staff.

The Leeds City Region Local Enterprise Partnership's skills service will work with companies to identify their training needs and find the best training provider.
