Work has begun to enforce a ban on advertising A-boards in Ilkley.

Yellow stickers have started appearing on boards warning owners that they are 'illegal' under the Highways Act 1980.

Speaking when the trial was proposed, Bradford Council said it was "trying to strike a balance" between creating "a safe environment for people with limited vision or mobility, and businesses wanting to advertise their services".

The ban has been supported by the Royal National Institute for the Blind, but independent traders have criticised a lack of consultation.

Businesses which have received a sticker have been told they have 10 days to remove the boards or face a £200 fee to get them back.
