Masham is at risk of losing its last remaining bed and breakfast.

The owners of Millgate B&B say they're planning to sell up due to family commitments.

Millgate, set up on the site of a poorhouse, was recently rated as the best in the world by users of the TripAdvisor website in its Travellers' Choice Awards.

If new owners come in and don't continue running it as a B&B, it will mean the town has lost 14 beds in various accommodation over the last three years.

That's equivalent to 196 visitor nights a week.

Co-owner Sue Burrell said: "We know that the demand is there for accommodation, as we turn people away all the time.

"There are other accommodation providers, but there aren't enough beds, and having already lost so many, it is a concern for the economics of the town."
