When you first learnt to drive, can you remember the stress and impossibility of being able to master all those tasks at the same time? Changing gears, steering, checking your mirrors, indicating, navigating and dealing with passengers all at the same time! But now... you probably do it without thinking. It's now a habit. 

So how can you implement the same learning techniques into other areas of your life? 

Jessica Barker is a wellness retreat specialist based at Thief Hall near Northallerton, and she knows a lot about changing habits. She's narrowed down nailed a new habit to the three R's:

  • Remember - why are you doing this, what are you wanting to accomplish - don't forget this. 
  • Routine - you must stick to a routine! Changing it from one day to the next will make new habits very difficult indeed.
  • Reward - treat yourself when you hit your goals.
