Italian chef Gino D'Acampo has opened his brand new restaurant and Prosecco bar in Harrogate.

The restaurant, on Parliament Street and just down the hill from Jamie's Italian, was officially opened by Mayor Anne Jones on Thursday.

Councillor Jones said: "Gino has done a great job with the restaurant and I think it will be a breath of fresh air for the town.

"I have to say when I told people I was coming here today, they were all excited. Everyone loves Gino and I think he will have a great following here."

Spanning over two floors and seating 150 guests, the charismatic chef's latest venture features an open kitchen, deli bar, private dining room, games room, photo booth and an all-weather roof terrace, with an additional cocktail bar.

Gino's new My Grocery Store means that guests can also buy the ingredients used in both his restaurant and cookbooks, so that they can replicate the dishes at home.

Speaking about the Harrogate opening, Gino said: "After the success of My Restaurant in Leeds, I decided it was Harrogate's turn for a slice of la bella vita.

"I visited the town for the very first time seven years ago and fell in love with its people, elegance and charm. Harrogate is very cool and I want to be a part of it."

He's currently filming his fifth series of Gino's Italian Escape, which will be back on TV in November.

Gino also regularly appears on This Morning and other shows including Celebrity Juice, alongside his close friend Leigh Francis, who is better as Keith Lemon.
