A third of shoppers in Yorkshire and Humberside make purchases through their smartphones at least once a week. Yet less than 1 in 5 SME businesses has  website that is mobile friendly. See the problem?

And bearing in mind that spend on mobiles has almost doubled in the past year (from £13.5 billion to £27 billion) there's a huge chance that businesses across Harrogate, Craven and Wharfedale are missing out.

So what can be done? We heard from Nicola Longfield from Paypal to hear some really simple tips.

  • MOBILE OPTIMISATION - Put simply all this means is checking your website works on mobile phones as well as desktops. You can check this by going through the same processes as your customer - load up the website and try and buy something/contact you/ find out more - is it as easy as it can be?
  • MINIMISE STEPS -  Is it easy enter details and pay for a product in the shortest time possible? Keep the check out page as simple as possible.
  • MARKET AT PEAK TIMES - Online shopping times peak on Friday and Saturday evenings, so why not market more here?

Nicola Longfield form Paypal has advice for small to medium sized businesses thanks to Stray FM's Business Hub.
