Otley offers free parking for Christmas shoppers

Residents and visitors in Otley will be able to enjoy free parking in the run-up to Christmas.

The town's three car parks, which are managed by Leeds City Council, will offer free parking on the four weekends before the big day, as well as from 3pm on Monday 27 November, when the town's Christmas lights will be officially switched on.

Leeds City Councillor Colin Campbell, who was instrumental in helping to arrange the free parking, said: "Otley is a great place to visit and do your Christmas shopping. This commitment from Leeds City Council to allow free parking is appreciated and is intended to encourage more people to visit Otley and enjoy the festive atmosphere and all that the town has to offer, as well as deliver a seasonal boost to all our valued businesses and traders."

Councillor Paul Carter, Chairman of Otley Town Council's Trade and Tourism Committee, added: "The programme of Christmas events in Otley is bigger than ever this year and includes our famous Christmas Tree Festival, the extremely popular Victorian Fayre, and much more. The free parking offer will encourage visitors to sample some of these events.

"We also have an excellent variety of shops, as well as an enhanced Christmas market offering on Fridays and Saturdays this year. Free parking will allow both visitors and residents to benefit, whilst also providing support for local businesses."

The free parking will be available at the Beech Hill, Courthouse Street and North Parade car parks on 27 November (from 3pm) and on 2, 3, 9, 10, 16, 17, 23 and 24 December.
