Plans for how £680,000 could be spent improving business in Ilkley are being set out next week.

The group behind plans for the Ilkley BID are encouraging businesses to come to their event next Tuesday to learn more about their business plan.

The event will take place at The Ticket Office at 5.30pm on Tuesday 29th January.

Eligible businesses will be asked to vote on whether to create a BID next month.

If created, businesses will pay an extra rate. The money raised will then be used on improvement projects.

Ballot papers will be sent out, with businesses having until the end of March to vote via post.

Chair of The Shadow Development Board of Ilkley's Business Improvement District said:

"We're hoping to get as many businesses along as possible on the 29th so we have an opportunity  to showcase our business plan and the ideas we're proposing to do over the next five years, if the vote carries and enough people say yes.

"We also hope to have someone along from the Otley or Skipton BID, to get a perspective from one of our neighbours so they can give some input on what's worked for them and how the BID's worked in their area.

"We've worked very hard to talk to local businesses to ask them what they want the BID to deliver for them in Ilkley."
