All march Stray FM and Entech Commercial are highlighting the environment with Green Month.  As part of it Entech Commercial have offered some tips to help your business be greener...

• Shut down computers and any electrical equipment around your work station when not in use.
• Install motion light sensors in public spaces to avoid unnecessary lighting in empty rooms.
• Replace old style lighting with LED light fittings.
• Have a dedicated person at the end of the day to check all public spaces i.e. kitchens corridors, print rooms etc for taps turned off, lights and machines shut down.
• Boiler usage – lots of businesses have radiators turned off however the boiler is still heating all summer long.
• If loading and unloading vehicles make sure the engines aren’t idling whilst parked, turn it all off.
• If heating on/ air-con, make sure windows are closed as the efficiency will be lowered.
• Car shares.
• Cycle schemes.
• Recycling bins in workplace kitchens.
• For café businesses, consider ways to re-purpose food that hasn’t been purchased on the day. Or donate. As a last resort consider composting.
• Lease company cars, consider greener or hybrid models.
• Recycle printer cartridges and computer equipment.
• Encourage employees to avoid printing unless absolutely necessary.
• Wastewater reclamation. Re-route rainwater to flush toilets.
• Buy greener consumable. Recycled paper, cardboard straws, cardboard take away packaging.
• Buy electricity generated from green sources. There are companies dedicated to this
• Consider on-site generation, solar panels, heat pumps, wind turbines.
• When decorating a customer-facing space, try to buy from merchants that use recycled material in their products.
