"Being part of the Harrogate community is at the core of our values as a business.

"It isn't just about trading on Harrogate's brand name, but it's about putting back into that community and helping to further establish that brand."

Marcus Black, Joint Founder and Managing Director of Spirit of Harrogate

So what is the Spirit of Harrogate doing to support the local community?

Well as it turns out, after Stray FM's Beth Parsons talked to Marcus Black from Spirit of Harrogate, quite a lot.

What is the Harrogate BID?

In November 2018, Harrogate got the go ahead to become a Business Improvement District (BID) following a vote with local businesses.

The Spirit of Harrogate is part of the BID and understands the need for promotion of the town centre to encourage more visitors and local people to enjoy what the spa town can offer.

Stray FM's Local Hero Awards with the Spirit of Harrogate

Every year Stray FM celebrates the selfless achievements of local people through the Local Hero Awards.

Public nominations are collected for volunteers, fundraisers and inspirational people or groups who  rarely get recognition for the good work they do.

Culminating in a black tie awards ceremony at Rudding Park on Wednesday 8th May 2019, the Local Hero Awards are supported by a variety of local businesses.

The Spirit of Harrogate, home of Slingsby Gin, sponsors the Community Local Hero Award.
