Fundraisers in Ripon are busy preparing for a popular charity bike ride.

They have taken over an event which was originally started by the Acorn Committee more than 10 years ago.

The Ripon Rotary Bike Ride will get under way at Bishop Monkton Village Hall on Saturday 13 May.

It's a 100K circular route which remains the same as previous years and will take riders through the countryside towards York.

Co-ordinator Chris Eyes told Stray FM: "We're all very excited, it's a big fundraiser and it's good that we're continuing the bike ride exactly as it has been.

"The Acorn Committee have done a tremendous job and it's a privilege that we've been given the baton to take that on.

"We've already got lots of community support and sponsorship, but there's always room for more sponsorship and we're looking towards to some help with our marshalling as well."

Once again, the event will raise money for local charity Dementia Forward and fund research into a rare condition called scleroderma, as well as supporting other good causes.
