A charity ball in Harrogate has raised more than £7,000 for two young boys who need life-enhancing rehabilitation therapy.

The event was organised by Sarah Williams and Caroline Day to raise money for equipment and specialist treatment for six-year-old Felix and four-year-old Oscar.

Felix is unable to walk or crawl as a result of a life-limiting neurological condition.

Oscar has cerebral palsy and requires regular and intensive physiotherapy.

Both boys are travelling to Canada this summer for therapy specifically designed to help children like them and improve their quality of life.

More than 160 people attended the Sunshine Ball which included an auction, conducted by Harrogate auctioneer Richard Smailes of FSS Property who, along with his father Charles, has helped local good causes raise hundreds of thousands of pounds from charity auctions over the years.

Prizes included a week on Grand Cayman and a holiday on the Costa Blanca.

Caroline said: "This is the first ball Sarah and I have organised and there was a lot of hard work involved, but we were overwhelmed by people's generosity and it was great to see everyone enjoy themselves on the night.

"Best of all, we have now raised plenty of money to give Oscar and Felix the best possible treatment which we hope will make their lives easier and more fulfilling."
