Harrogate's Memory Walk returns

Harrogate's Memory Walk returns

Published at 1:08pm 15th September 2017.

Tomorrow welcomes the third annual Memory Walk in Harrogate.

It's all in aid of raising money and awareness for Alzheimer's Society.

The last two walks have attracted more than 200 people and raised over £10,000 in total.

It takes place at the Valley Gardens at 2pm.

Andrew Jones MP spoke to us at Stray Fm ahead of the event: "I want to encourage everyone to get involved and support the event by coming along and joining us.

"People are sometimes walking to remember a loved one or simply wanting to be involved in a sponsored walk, it doesn't matter.

"It makes a bit of a difference to a cause that matters."

Alison Wrigglesworth, Services Manager for Alzheimer's Society added: "The money is used to support services locally.

"We offer support for people who are living with dementia and their carers, there are 1800 people across the Harrogate district who have dementia.

"We're here at the end of the phone for anybody who wants to have a chat, or for people who have concerns."
