Dick Whittington, this year's traditional family pantomime is now open at Harrogate Theatre so we took the opportunity to find out what it's all about at their glamorous press performance.

You can picture the scene, a full house of excited theatre-goers, serious reviewers, friends and family of the cast and crew... and a couple of oiks from Stray FM with a microphone and a camera.

But while we were there we did manage to grab exclusive interviews with Harriet Harper, who plays Dick as well as the favourite comedy duo Howard Chadwick, Sarah the Cook and Idle Jack played by Tim Stedman, as well as reactions from some of the audience. Have a listen:

  • The first panto took place 116 years ago, and was another performance of Dick Whittington
  • Tim Stedman is in his 17th pantomime at Harrogate Theatre
  • Katy Dean has performed as many characters but this is her first time as a baddy - the evil Queen Rat
  • Director Phil Lowe is celebrating his 10th year this year
