Harrogate Town Football Club has been spreading festive cheer at Harrogate Hospital and Horton Housing with Christmas gifts.

Players and coaching staff from local football team Harrogate Town AFC went to two Harrogate venues with presents for vulnerable children and young adults.

Harrogate Hospital and Horton Housing (part of STAY Harrogate - Supported Tenancies at Yorkshire) welcomed the Christmas visitors on Thursday 13th December 2018.

Presents and gifts had been donated by football fans and local businesses.

Families at Harrogate Hospital welcomed the Harrogate Town FC team

Amongst other children at Harrogate District Hospital Jayden aged 8 received chocolate and a toy car, and Poppy aged 3 enjoyed some Lego... which she made into a cat!

“We realise that not everyone is having a great time this Christmas. It can often be daunting, especially if time is spent away from home in unfamiliar surroundings.

We wanted to give something back, reaching out to our fanbase to assist in donating presents and selection boxes for those less fortunate.

Harrogate Hospital does such a great job and if we can put a smile on peoples faces during the hard times – it makes it all worthwhile.”

First team Harrogate Town FC players Jack Emmett, Aaron Williams, James Belshaw and Toby Leeds surprised families, children and young adults with toys and selection boxes that had been donated by local people.

Manager Simon Weaver, Assistant Manager Paul Thirwell, Goalkeeping Coach Phil Priestley and members of the media team also came along.

The second Harrogate Town visit was to Horton Housing, part of STAY Harrogate

Horton Housing provides housing-related support for people aged 18 and above in the local area, who are homeless or at risk of homelessness.

We would like to thank all those who donated selection boxes and toys for this appeal. The selflessness and generosity of local people have been remarkable, in particular those who have fundraised and given up their charity donations for this cause”.
