Great news for Otley Christmas shoppers

  • People shopping into Otley in the run up to Christmas will be able to park in the town for free.
  • Free parking is in place on selected dates.
  • It's the four year running the incentive has been in place in Otley.

Otley visitors and residents are to get a Christmas shopping boost again this year thanks to festive free parking on selected dates throughout the holiday season.

The free parking scheme, now in its fourth year, brings a boost to Otley as the festive season kicks in with the town’s series of events such as the Otley Victorian Fayre, and shoppers take advantage of the historic town's many independent stores.

Leeds City Councillor Colin Campbell (Lib Dem, Otley & Yeadon), who was instrumental in helping arrange the scheme, said:

“At a time when the high streets across the country are challenged by economic circumstances, Otley’s main shopping areas remain a vibrant, fabulous place for people to visit whether to pick up Christmas goodies or to attend some of our Christmas events. We are pleased to announce the continuation of festive free parking to help alleviate people’s load a little at an already expensive time of year for most. Leeds City Council’s continued support of the scheme is much appreciated.”

Chair of Otley Town Council, Cllr Richard Hughes (Lib Deb, West Chevin) said:

“Our Christmas programme of events keeps getting bigger and better and our shopping and market areas more and more diverse with many unique offerings. The offer of free parking over the festive season helps residents, shoppers and visitors and provides valuable support for local business.”

The free parking will be available at the Beech Hill, Courthouse Street and North Parade car parks on November 30 and December 1, 7, 8, 14, 15, 21 and 22.
