Fountains Abbey was established in 1132

Once the walkers have gathered at Fountains Abbey, a carol service is then held.

The Very Reverend John Dobson, Dean of Ripon, said:

"People from right across the North of England have got use to coming and joining us for it. It has becomes part of their Christmas with their families.

"Probably several hundred people will walk with us from the Cathedral to Fountains Abbey.

"When we get there, we hold a great carol service and there's usually about a thousand people with us at the abbey for that."

Before the walk gets underway there'll be a service at Ripon Cathedral at 9.30am

The walk will then start from the cathedral at 10.15am

The carol service will take place at Fountains Abbbey at approx 11.45/12 noon
