Children from Bangkok have been getting lessons in British culture during a visit to North Yorkshire.

They recently spent two weeks with Year 6 pupils and teachers at Goldsborough and Sicklinghall's primary schools.

The youngsters took part in lessons, enjoyed trips to tourist attractions and were even invited for tea with families in the evenings.

Teacher Joe Cooper told Stray FM: "They've just been fantastic, they've slotted in so well.

"We've also been pleasantly surprised about the level of English the children had when they came over - particularly written - it's stunning.

"We took a trip to a countryside day and they said there was nothing like that in Thailand where you go and see about farming and learn about hands-on crafts.

"You could see from their faces it was a long, tiring day, but they were just bowled over by the rural atmosphere and the culture round here, so lots of experiences that have added something to their understanding of the UK."

Pupils from both schools have now been invited to visit Thailand early next year.
