A Harrogate school is rallying support for its bid to obtain new smartscreens.

Bilton Grange Primary School is currently ranked second in a public vote being run by the OneFamily community fund.

The school hopes to use the £25,000 available to transform lessons.

The interactive screens have been described as 21st century technology, which function like giant iPads but hang on the walls.

Adele Laurie-Wilson, parent, and treasurer of the PTA,  said: "The school is trying to raise funds to buy smartscreens. It is amazing technology that all pupils, no matter of ability or special needs, can use to learn and prepare them for their future.

"Harrogate is often overlooked for funding as it is seen to be an affluent area, but we know not all families in Harrogate are well-off."

Voting closes on 6 September.
