5 easy outfits for World Book Day

Pile of books

Published at 2:23pm 4th March 2019. (Updated at 2:29pm 4th March 2019)

World Book Day is being celebrated on Thursday 7th March 2019, and many schools across the UK will be enjoying a fancy dress day involving your favourite book characters.

But if time is running out for a big DIY and outfit project, perhaps these simple ideas could help you out.

One of Roald Dahl's most magical little girls, a Matilda outfit could be put together quite easily with a blue dress, a red hair ribbon and a few books to carry around.

Where's Wally?

Turn one of the most well-known picture book into a World Book Day outfit with a pair of blue trousers, a bobble hat, and ideally a pair of glasses

Captain Underpants

You're already on to a winner if just the name of the character makes the children giggle. Now we're not suggesting your son or daughter go to school in just their pants, but pop a pair of white pants over your trousers and pair it with a red piece of clothing made into a cape, and you're sorted!

Know someone who knits? Just find some yellow wool and make it into a long plait or pony-tail to tie into your child's hair! Pair it with any Princess style dress and voila... Rapunzel! And you could still actually use the wool to knit with afterward!

101 Dalmations

A white t-shirt and a black marker pen is all you really need here! You could also create a red collar too and involve facepaint if you have time. If you can train your son or daughter to bark too that would be preferable.

Hope those few ideas help you out.

Have a wonderful World Book Day on Thursday 7th March 2019 and don't forget to share your outfit pictures with Stray FM!
