Students from Queen Ethelburga's Collegiate were joined by the BBC's Strictly Come Dancing stars Amy Dowden and Ben Jones for their 10th annual Gym and Dance Show.

  • Ballroom, cheer leading, gymnastic floor routines, vaulting and trampolining were amongst the disciplines on display.
  • Popular TV dancers were invited to coach, choreograph and perform with the students.
  • Engaged dancing couple, Amy Dowden and Ben Jones, are known for their work on TV show Strictly Come Dancing.

For 10th year in a row, the students of Queen Ethelburga's Collegiate put on three Gym and Dance Shows on Thursday 14th, Friday 15th and Saturday 16th March 2019.

One lucky student danced with the stars

Queen Ethelburga's sixth form student Ekaterina Solomeina got the extra special opportunity to dance with Strictly Come Dancing star Ben Jones.

Previous ballroom champion in her home of Russia, Ekaterina spoke to Stray FM about the experience:

"Of course I was very excited, I couldn't believe it.

"To be honest, I can't imagine my life without dancing and it's been a very very big part of my life."

The dancers have since been trying to arrange a permanent dance partner for Ekaterina when she hopefully moves to London to study Finance and Accounting.
