Police tractor needs a name

North Yorkshire Police has just taken delivery of a new tractor to help fight rural crime.

It has been loaned to the force by Ripon Farm Services and is decked out in authentic police colours.

But, for obvious reasons, officers won't be using the tractor to chase criminals.

Along with the Rural Taskforce, it will be visiting shows and other events across North Yorkshire this summer.

Before the tour starts, officers want to give the tractor a name, and they're asking children to help them.

A competition to name last year's tractor proved popular, with suggestions including 'Tractor McTractorFace'.

This year's competition is open to children at primary schools across North Yorkshire and the City of York, and entries must be received by Monday 5 June.

The best tractor name will be chosen by Chief Constable Dave Jones and the winner will be offered a visit to their school.
