Fun House Is BACK! Where Can You Re-Run The Fun Round Here?

Fun House

(Updated 9:15am 16th June 2017)

Yes, it's true, the 90s TV sensation Fun House, is coming back... but this time it's coming as a "fully-immersive experience" - basically that means you can have a go for fun!

If you're struggling to remember, Fun House launched on CiTV in 1989, hosted by Pat Sharp and the iconic Fun House twins, it was both wacky and outrageous, and was the stuff of dreams for the children watching - "How do I get to have a go?!"

Well, a new crowd funding campaign on the website IndieGoGo aims to recreate the experience including the go-karts and of course, the final house itself.

The campaign is looking to raise £650,000, with various amounts of money giving you access to perks including early access, full hire of the venue or even getting the original presenters to host your work night out.

And if you've got really deep pockets, Pat has even agreed to grow his mullet back if you donate the full amount!

This is all well and good, but it's going to be a while before you can get yourself along to "re-run the fun" - and typically it'll be in London too (boooo!).

So in the short term, where can you get a short term fix of soft play action round here?

Here's our top five suggestions round here, WARNING: you will probably need to take a child with you to enjoy these - they'll need your help though right?

1. Dan's Den Ilkley

Making great use of the refurbished hall of Christchurch and just off The Grove, this perfectly located, volunteer run play place is the perfect antidote to big corporate chains.

2. Lightwater Valley Theme Park

Included in the price of theme park entry, or available for parties, the recently opened attraction features 3 slides, a ball volcano and ball zip tube, giant bouncy balls, building blocks pad, body rollers, bubbles and fish water tube, 3 sets of stepping stones and an obstacle course.

Plus you can get super value entry for the whole family with our Stray Saver here

3. Billy-Bob's Parlour Near Skipton

If you like your fun a bit more "outdoorsy" Billy Bob's Parlour offers diners at their American style eatery the chance to make use of their HUGE play barns for just £1 per child.

Bails of straw keep things safe, and the ice cream is quite simply incredible.

4. Kidzplay Harrogate, Boroughbridge & Northallerton

No time limits, no charge for adults, free wifi and hot and cold food, let the kids run off all that energy while you catch up on the news... or scroll through facebook.

5. Matrix Superbowl Skipton

Obviously, this is a bowling alley, but there's also a great little softplay "playzone". If you've got older ones, send them off to hit some strikes while the younger ones (and you if you need to "help" them) charge round the soft stuff.
