Bears will be everywhere when Martin House Hospice Care for Children and Young People holds its latest fundraising event this weekend.

The Big Bear Hug Family Walk, at Temple Newsam on Saturday, will celebrate the charity's 30th anniversary.

Families are being invited to take part in a 2K walk, which is wheelchair and pushchair accessible, or a 5K route through the woods.

Ellie Barker, Events Fundraiser at Martin House, said: "Families are at the heart of what we do, so we wanted to hold an event all the family could enjoy together as part of our anniversary celebrations.

"We're hoping people will bring along their bears, have fun and help us to celebrate 30 years of caring."

Martin House provides care for families affected by life-limiting conditions at its hospice in Boston Spa, in hospitals and in their own homes.

Redrow Homes is sponsoring the Big Bear Hug Family Walk.

James Poynor, Managing Director of Redrow Homes (Yorkshire), said: "We've a long-standing association with Martin House and it's a pleasure and a privilege to support this event.

"We're even hoping that our own two life-sized bears, Buster and Buddy, will be making an appearance on the day to add to the fun."

The event takes place from 11am on Saturday and costs £10 for a family ticket, which can be booked at
