A care home in Harrogate is currently undergoing refurbishment to bring life back to the building.

They also want to recreate the beautiful building it once was.

The Granby is a care home in the portfolio of Brighterkind.

Brighterkind have recently won Residential Care Home of the Year 2017, awarded by Health Investor and also Best for Clinical facilities.

One aim is to make it a part of the community again.

A library, cinema room and cafe are just a few of the facilities now available to community groups free of charge.

The home is also hosting a Mad Hatters tea-party on Saturday 2nd September as part of its launch for the public.

The overall completion of the building work is said to be done by next month though.

Manager, Karen Auker, wants locals to feel involved as well as their residents: "We are developing this as a community resource for people who are older in the community - we have lots of exciting new activities.

"We're hoping people will come in and use our facilities, and provide opportunities for our people too.

"It's all about us giving back to the community.

"I think everybody is really happy with the look, it's all been quite a surprise - we've got an internal designer, just one lady, who has done a lovely modern take on some very traditional themes which represents the people that live here."
