How often do you get a headache? Do you know why? We thought we'd help out and ask the experts at O'Connor Chiropractic.

Common causes of headaches

  • Dietary reasons - alcohol, caffeine, chocolate, dairy are among the worst culprits
  • Stress - symptoms such as hunched shoulders, gritted teeth and clenched jaw which happen due to emotional stress cause headaches
  • Posture - bad angles in the neck or back puts pressure on nerves
  • Pain killers - sometimes these actually cause rebound headaches as the body tries to rid itself of the toxins of the medication

Simple changes which can help minimise headaches

  • Improve your posture
  • Drink more water
  • Stretches can help - click here!
  • Reduce your stress levels by getting outside or doing this you enjoy
  • Maintain a healthy balanced diet

If you'd like to find out more about why you get headaches or you'd like more help, get in touch with either the Ilkley or Harrogate clinic.
