January may be the time for a new boost into health, fitness and exercise, but launching too hard too soon can put you and your body at risk. LEAR Fitness in Harrogate offer a range of classes which, run by trained physiotherapists, allow for personalised one-to-one support minimising the risk of an injury and therefore improving the chances of hitting your goals!

Today we're exploring two of those...

Antenatal Physio

Exercising when you're pregnant can seem like an daunting idea - you know you need to stay fit and healthy, but putting your unborn baby at risk is understandably at the front of mind.

The antenatal pilates class at LEAR Fitness, run by trained physio Elise, allows pregnant women to keep exercising, but with personalised support.

From mums who are otherwise totally medically healthy to Mums with pelvis issues or joint problems, moves can be adjusted from person to person making sure everybody gets the most they can from their class.

The classes use a piece of kit called a reformer. Although this is use widely in America, it's less common in the UK, and is a type of adjustable resistance machine.

Physio Yoga

Another class which definitely follows the trend of personalised health and fitness is the physio yoga classes at LEAR Fitness Harrogate.

Whether you're a total yoga pro, or a complete yoga novice, because the experts who run the classes are also trained physios you're significantly less likely to cause yourself an injury or strain your body by launching into certain moves too soon.

And don't worry, if it's losing body fat or toning up that you'r interested in, you'll still get the desired effects by starting a little slower. In fact, if you avoid an injury it could mean you progress faster!
