How much do children know about health? The importance of nutrition and sleep is being taught to local children.

1 in 4 children aged 2 to 10 years old and 1 in 3 children aged 11 to 15 years old are overweight or obese. Not only can it affect health physically with increased risks of high cholestrol and blood pressure, diabetes and bone problems, it can put strain on a child mental health through bullying and low self-esteem.

But diet isn't the only issue...

Only around 3 in 10 people get the recommended 8 hours sleep every night in the UK which can also put your health at risk.

During January local students dedicated a week to learning more about the importance of a healthy diet and good sleep at Queen Ethelburgas Collegiate.

Beth Parsons has been investigating what the students and staff at Queen Ethelburgas Collegiate have been doing as part of Healthy Lifestyles Week on Stray FM's Family Show.
