Published at 2:58pm 7th March 2019.

Days of blood sweat and tears from proud parents across Harrogate, Craven and Wharfedale have come to an end as children go to school to celebrate World Book Day.

World Book Day is a key date in the calendar of primary schools across the country.

We asked you to share photos of your little ones ready to go into school for a day of learning in their special costumes.

You didn't disappoint.

Here are our 10 favourite photos sent in by you this World Book Day.

1. A spoonful of sugar makes the medicine go down...

2. We're reliably informed this Tiger Who Came For Tea has not drunk all of Daddy's beer

3. This chap's school were dressing as words. Amazingly, he chose "Barbecue"

4. This is definitely a child, not an actual Oompah Loompah from the movie

5. Some people seemed to be sending us pictures of floating books with no children in?

6. Some we could smell before we saw:

7. Down a dark, dark street:

8. Do you know a fox in socks?

9. Plants vs Zombies is the book. Which one do you think he chose?

10. Julia Donaldson was well represented, but this Squash and a Squeeze pair made us smile!
