Students at Queen Ethelburga's Collegiate are appealing for new sports equipment and stationery to give to a rural school in Africa.

  • Queen Ethelburga's students are making an appeal to businesses to donate new sports equipment and stationery.
  • The children will then take the donations to a rural school in Zambia during their trip to the country in July.
  • Although the trip is aimed at students from Year 7 to sixth form, the Year 6 Enrichment Club at Queen Ethelburga's are spearheading the appeal.

Queen Ethelburga's Collegiate students are appealing to businesses to donate new sports and classroom equipment as they plan to take ten extra suitcases on their trip to Zambia.

Aimed at students from Year 7 to Year 13, the trip will involve students working at the school with students and staff and also learning about conservation efforts caused by the human/wildlife conflict in the African country.

The appeal is aimed at providing equipment and resources that the school do not have, with an emphasis placed on classroom resources, first aid kits and sports equipment such as deflated footballs and basketballs.

Enrichment Club

The Year 6 Enrichment Club at Queen Ethelburga's Collegiate was set up to encourage students to get involved in a breadth of activities involving the community, creativity, culture and leadership.

Although the Year 6 students are too young to go on the trip to Zambia, they have been helping the older children by spearheading the appeal for equipment, creating resources and raising awareness of the trip.

To get in touch with someone at Queen Ethelburga's Collegiate about a potential donation for their trip to Zambia, please email trips@qe.org.
