When it comes to pregnancy, the added stress on the body of carrying a child can leave some women experiencing severe pain - but can chiropractic care help relieve it?

  • O'Connor Chiropractic in Harrogate put an emphasis on family care and are keen to help women during pregnancy and the birth process
  • We take a look at three local success stories and how chiropractic care has been able to help both newborn children and the extra stress of carrying a child

Niki's story

Niki Galloway was experiencing some pain in her back in the early stages of her pregnancy before she was noticed by Jason O'Connor whilst at work.

Due to give birth in the middle of June this year, Niki recalled her first meeting with Jason and how she started receiving adjustments from O'Connor Chiropractic:

"Jason noticed my pelvis and shoulders were out of place at the beginning of my pregnancy.

"I was getting lots of pains in my lower back, sharp pains from my buttocks all the way up to my neck and down to my knees."

It wasn't long before Niki was reaping the benefits of chiropractic care during her pregnancy:

"Everyone at the practice is amazing and I definitely felt I was in safe hands.

"It probably took about a month but I felt something in the first week, because your body is getting used to the nerves sending signals all over your body."

Samuel's story

Samuel and Jason, O'Connor Chiropractic
Jason was able to adjust Samuel, allowing him to laugh for the first time

10-month-old Samuel was born via an emergency C-Section, and certain complications meant that his brain was starved of oxygen for a short period of time.

This meant that after his eight-week check, Samuel was yet to smile, was not moving one side of his body and was repeatedly having seizures.

Samuel's Mum Ella was understandably concerned and, after a recommendation from a friend, turned to Jason O'Connor at O'Connor Chiropractic for help.

Jason was able to identify a cranial strain caused by the complication of Samuel's birth and, after some gentle manipulations, was able to realign the upper cervical joints to take pressure off the nerves in his brain and get him smiling and moving again.

April's story

April pregnant, O'Connor Chiropractic patient
April originally sought the help of Jason O'Connor and his team for her daughter Lauren, but soon found he could help her during her pregnancy

April originally sought the help of Jason O'Connor and the O'Connor Chiropractic team for her daughter Lauren, who suffers from cystic fibrosis.

April then fell pregnant in January last year with her second child, Wiatt, and started receiving chiropractic care from Jason herself.

"I would go during pregnancy and it did keep me going. I blame him for going into early labour!

(After an adjustment) All night I felt these twinges when I got home and knew something wasn't quite right - the next morning I went to the hospital and he was born by Midday!"
